Info

This Parents vs Kids is a very special event. It is not only the holidays, but its Scarletts Birthday! We hope to see you out there! If you are a parent that would like to participate but dont have any equipment, I may have some extra gear that would fit.  I will only invite other kids and parents if we do not have enough attending to cover the expenses (ie ref, scorekeeper, dj, misc expenses)

Event Information

  • Date - December 20, 2023
  • Location - Invisalign, aka Wake Competition Center
  • Locker rooms - TBD
  • Cost - $40 per child, $70 for Child/Parent Combo

Schedule

  • 6pm Meetup Cupcakes to celebrate Scarletts bithday and handout Children and Adults Loaner Jerseys(sharpen skates if needed) any donations for Holiday Drive to be collected.
  • 7:45pm Warmups
  • 7:55 pm Puck Drop

Game Play

  • Parents will only be allowed 3 skaters on the Ice. The kids will run 5 skaters and a goalie.
  • Goalies - Coach Edward will play goalie for the kid’s team, and barring any unforeseen issues, a kid will be the tendy for the adults.
  • Penalties - In the event a penalty is called on an adult, it will result in one less player on the ice; the second penalty will result in the same. This means if the adults cannot play a clean game, only one of you could be on the ice for the penalty’s length. For the kids, the penalty rules remain normal.
  • Bench Coaches - We will recruit some parent players from our adult league teams to take care of the kid’s bench so you can enjoy the game whether you are on the ice or a spectator!

Ice time

  • 75 minutes of total ice (I am waiting to see if we can extend by 15 minutes)
  • 10 minutes of Warm-ups / Free time for parents (and or family/friends) can just spend some time on the ice doing whatever it is they want to do. Please be sure not to shoot at any goalie who is not looking at you during this time.
  • 20-minute stop clock
  • 2-minute intermissions

. If there is time left after everything, feel free to use the “Free” time AFTER our ending event is complete)

.

Jerseys

  • Jerseys will be handed out one hour prior to the warmup start time

Equipment / Loaner Gear

  • Although we do not recommend it, all that is required for an adult to be on the ice is a Helmet, Gloves, Stick and Skates.
  • Used Equipment - If you would like to source your own equipment I recommend Play It Again sports. There are several locations and equipment is reasonably priced. If you think you may be interested in playing hockey in the future MCHL runs a beginner adult league. Purchasing equipment may be the route for you. We also accept donations for equipment to help adults new to hockey try it out before they buy equipment. So if you are in a position where you are able to purchase equipment and donate to the cause we will make sure your donation is well used!
  • Loner gear - I have several pairs of gloves, pants, elbow pads, shin pads and skates in different sizes available to loan out. Please be sure to fill out the information on sizing and I will let you know if I have the size you need!

Pictures and Video

  • We will try have a photographer and an on-ice videographer for this event, (If you are a photographer and you want to save us some money and volunteer your services, it will be greatly appreciated but not expected). We will also release the entire LiveBarn footage. (We can now also offer player-specific LiveBarn video for a fee)

Its that time of the year. We are collecting donations for our Annual Holiday Donation Drive.
We have selected two families in western NC to help this year. We would like at least one more family to help in this area. If younknow a family in nees please reach out. Whether you are looking to donate, volunteer, or know someone in need please check out the link below.
